Twist bread
Light up the fire pit, we're having twist bread! Warm summer evenings call for twist bread. This recipe gives you delicious, soft twist breads for the whole family. The recipe doesn't meet the whole grain label requirements, but it's a way to include whole grains in everyday life.
Ingredients
- 25 g yeast
- 4,5 dl semi-skimmed milk
- 50 g butter
- 300 g wheat flour
- 500 g Whole wheat flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions
- The butter is gently melted in a pot. Add milk to the pot. It should only be lukewarm.
- The two types of flour, sugar, and salt are mixed in a bowl, and the milk-butter mixture is added. The dough is kneaded until it becomes smooth and elastic. This takes about 10 minutes in a stand mixer and a little longer if kneaded by hand.
- The bowl is covered with a damp cloth and left to rise for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into the desired number of portions and twist the dough onto sticks. The twist breads are baked over the embers of a campfire or grill. When the breads sound hollow and have a golden color, they are done.
